Oh my Gato.

Since bringing out the D60, I decided that I should take some decent pictures of Cake. We adopted Cake two months ago from Austin Pets Alive! and we are so happy we did. She’s got quite the personality and came to find out that she also absolutely dislikes having her picture taken. After a bit of sweet-talking, I asked her to pose for me. I thought she was going to cooperate, but instead… I got this:

Cake the Cat, posing?

Gosh, I love her.  Continue reading

I Was Made For Sunny Days

steppin' into spring

Which is why I make my feet as sunny as possible :) These cloudy, windy days in Austin aren’t as appreciated unless they come with some rain (my prayers to those who have been caught in the midst of these tornadoes lately). Right now, they’re just preventing us from heading to the pool to swim in the sun!

Jiu-Jitsu Kid

I’m thoroughly impressed & proud of my Kiddo’s passion & love for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. He even impresses his Coach (a black belt) at every practice. He went from being a very shy & quiet kid to slowly but surely coming out of his little shell and working out those little body and mind muscles. He’s surrounded by a great group of kids and even incredible coaches. Every morning, he’ll excitedly ask “Is today Jiu-Jitsu day??”, proving that he absolutely loves what he’s doing. This is what I want my son to learn: that to earn trophies and medals, you’ve got to practice and work hard! Things are not just handed to you in life. I see a big future for my son, and I know that THIS will feed his ambition to be the best! You Go Boy! :D

In Love

I’ve always been “afraid” of using a MacBook. Simply because it just felt TOO easy to use. But much like when I held my first iPhone, I feel comfortable. To say I’m an Apple Fan is an understatement. I am hooked.

I snapped this image Wednesday night when we went on a food truck binge. Tacos, pizza & Korean-Mexican fusion was had & I enjoyed every single bite :) It’s a once-a-week indulgence I allow myself. Food post coming soon!

I figured I’d start sharing my favorite picture I have taken with my iPhone during the week. That one shot that had me beaming with pride…
I really enjoy this one. I took it as we were walking to City Hall for the Chanukah candle lighting…

So glad to call this city HOME.

Death Cab for Cutie show at Austin Music Hall – 10/11/2011

Last night… life was made sweeter. After nearly 10 years of waiting, I finally had the opportunity to go see Death Cab for Cutie at Austin Music Hall. A week before my 29th birthday, at that. I had been waiting for them to announce their tour when their new album, Codes & Keys had dropped. Unfortunately, when their tour announcement was made, Austin was not one of the cities on their tour. To say I was heartbroken was an understatement. I did see they were going to be in Dallas, so I was already making my plans to go to that show. But, sure enough, a month before last night, they added Austin, TX. I was ecstatic and begged Husby for tickets for my birthday :)

opening act: Telekinesis
Pardon the blurriness, as this was taken with my phone…

Telekinesis opened for them, and they were a blast! They had the crowd revved up and dancing, although I was sad to see some people utterly annoyed. Why? It’s a show, you guys! You’re meant to dance, have fun and BE HAPPY! Talk about some pissy pants there. Oh well. Their loss.

After Telekinesis, about 20 minutes later (after set-up), DCFC took the stage at about 9:15pm. Little did we know that they would be on that stage for almost 2 hours. They played from almost every album they have. They played with passion. They played their freakin’ guts out. I couldn’t be more thankful that they did. I had an absolute blast, even if I had to wait almost 10 years for this show… it was well worth the wait.

One of my favorite pics from last night! ♥

The show had ended, but the crowd was not ready to head out. We clapped, cheered, yelled, screamed for more. Sure enough, DCFC came back out and played FIVE more songs! The first song of those five was the one I was hoping to hear live: Stay Young, Go Dancing. I don’t know why, but that song speaks the most to me at this moment. As soon as they started to play it, tears were falling out of my eyes. I was so ridiculously happy.

After their last song, they thanked us and we thanked them. The show was beyond incredible and I am so glad that I was able to see them live. My ears hurt, my voice was almost gone. I cannot wait for my next chance to see them again! Feel free to visit my DCFC flickr set HERE. And enjoy this lovely video:
